The Master of Science in Banking and Financial Services Management program consists of 12 courses for a total of 48 credits. The 12 courses are made up of eight core courses and four specialization courses. The program can be completed in six semesters or approximately 24 months.
You may be entitled to waive up to four specialization courses based on your previous certification in the banking and financial services management field. For more information about course waivers, please speak to your Admissions Representative.
You will take two, seven-week courses online per semester, allowing you to focus on one course at a time. You may begin the program in any semester. This course delivery method is specially designed for working professionals to make the most efficient use of your time and to optimize your learning experience.
This degree program allows you to complete your coursework, interact with instructors and other learners through Boston University’s unique distance learning format. Upon successful completion of the program, you will receive your Master of Science in Banking and Financial Services Management degree.
The MSBFSM online program prepare students for success in the fast-paced, dynamic financial sector by combining a solid foundation in general management practices with expertise in corporate finance, global markets, and the financial services industry. Students explore:

- Managing cash
- Capital raising strategies
- Merger and acquisition processes
- Securities markets
- Corporate operations
- Defense measures against hostile bids
- Buyout transactions
- Analyzing financial statements
- Electronic commerce practices and their importance in both national and international markets
Students must complete the eight MSM core courses in addition to the four Banking and Financial Services specialization courses.
